Why Pole?

So how does Pole really work? Why is it so good for you?

Research believes If you increase the amount of muscle in your body. For every extra pound of muscle you put on, your body uses around 50 extra calories a day. In a recent study, researchers found that regular weight training boosts basal metabolic rate by about 15%. This is because muscle is 'metabolically active' and burns more calories than other body tissue even when you're not moving.

Going to Pole just once a week for an hour is enough to build muscle. Not only will you be burning more calories, you'll look better – whatever your weight.

As well as the actual amount of calories burned during a class – studies have shown that sustained, high-intensity exercise makes you burn more calories for several hours afterwards. After being put on a heart rate monitor (myself and my Instructor Ben):
Results showed "Their heart rates went up to 180 in under three minutes, which concludes they reached high intensity training.' likening it to cardio vascular sport training such as sprinting, but with the added benefits of weights." So... Not only are you getting a Cardio work out, but you are getting the benefits of lifting weights without having to step foot in a gym.

You see the results quicker from pole which helps motivate you to do more to achieve more, and exercise more.

Now for the Science bit!

Scientists believe that Exercise releases "happy chemicals" into your brain.
If you’ve never heard of it, dopamine is a chemical in the brain called a neurotransmitter that’s necessary for feelings of pleasure and happiness. And nothing is better than exercising to increase your brain’s dopamine production.
So Pole encourages you to Exercise more, and more 'happy chemicals' will be released in your brain.

From FitPole Studies

"Pole Fitness will help you develop strength, agility, balance and overall body control. Pole is a versatile sport as both slow and fast muscle cells in your body will get the stimulation needed for their proper development. In addition to this pole exercise also requires static muscle strength. This leads to a combination of all three ways of muscle work found in every exercise which allows you to make fast improvements in your overall condition. What makes pole exercise so effective is the fact that every move you make requires almost all of the muscles in your body and you yourself work as the resistance. The pressure that focuses on bones in e.g. static holds will increase bone density and this way prevents osteoporosis, a.k.a. bone embrittlement. Also the spine will get the bends and rotations needed for its wellness. Altogether you'll feel light, vigorous and full of strength."
